Hi All,

Good news, we finally have the dates for the Nationals confirmed. The F18 Australian Championships will be held as part of Skandia Race Week at Geelong near Melbourne. We will be racing Saturday 23rd, Sunday 24th and Monday 25th January. This will leave Tuesday 26th January to either join the festivities of Australia Day or drive home. This will be a great opportunity to sail on Port Phillip Bay and to promote the F18 class at major event. For more info please check the website www.ausf18.org.au

The NSW Traveller's series will be starting soon. The first race will be at Palm Beach Sailing Club on Saturday 5th September. At Palm Beach they sail mainly Hobie 16s. This year they have a big initiative to develop junior sailing in catamarans. They are running a program in conjunction with Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club. A fleet of Hobie Waves have been purchased and the two clubs are running formal and informal training programs to get more kids into catamaran sailing. Andrew Nelson who is involved with the program is encouraging the F18s to race at Palm Beach so the kids can see the high performance cats in action. It would be great if we could race a strong fleet to support the juniors. For more info about the Wave Program and the location of the PBSC check out the website www.pbsc.org.au

For those keen for a bit of pre season racing on Sydney Harbour the Brass Monkey Regatta is on the weekend before on the 29th and 30th August. This is a fun regatta where the cats get to race against the skiffs. Last year there was a duel for line honours between the A Class cats and the Moths! Attached is a copy of the NOR for the Brass Monkeys Regatta at the Sydney Flying Squadron. At this stage a few boats are going. Last year we rigged at the SFS. It was a bit tight but not too difficult. It was handy to be at the club as they had all the facilities ie. barbequed breakfast on the deck, spectator ferry, hot showers and dinner and dancing at night. It was also a secure place to leave the boat and gear. Last year some A Class cats rigged up at parks in the Eastern suburbs and just joined the regatta on the water. If you chose to rig at the Milsons Point get there early. For more info give me a ring or look at the NOR below or check the website www.sydneyflyingsquadron.com.au
