2008 Formula 18 Worlds Spain

To all,
As of Monday 18th Feb I have had responses back from all parties on their intentions to compete in the 2008 Worlds and who require shipping from Australia.

I am happy to advise to you all that the final numbers count for boats has come in at 11 Boats meaning we will require only the 1 x 40ft Container.

As a result of the numbers confirmation we can now proceed with booking of the container and advise all, listed below that these positions are final allowing you all to complete travel and accom bookings.

Shipping Dates:
Departure - from Australia has yet to be confirmed, once the shipping agent has confirmed travel times he will work backwards and advise when the container needs to be ready. Our expectation is early May after the QLD States.

Packing -Due to the distances and the even split of boats from each state, packing of the container out of Gosford (Chris Caldecoat) factory is the 1st option. If the Vic teams where to advise they are competing in the QLD States, Anzac Day long weekend shipping from Brisbane is a possible second option.

Arrivals - Confirming that we will request the container to arrive in Nigran (Site Compound) no later than the 24th June 2008. This will allow those who wish to compete in the "Exact Software Regatta" at the same location on the 28th and 29th June.

Departure - The container will remain on site for the duration of the Worlds racing and will be picked up for the return trip to Australia on July 14th 2008. The return shipping down time is yet to be confirmed.

Other Items:
Deposits - We are confirming final container costs and as noted within the previous emails there will be some direct costs to each of the teams for shipping. As we only have subisdised funding of $6000 USD as a group we will need to make up the difference.

Shipping quotations have dropped so things are looking better, but we still will require a $500 deposit from each team to be placed into the Association account no later than Wed 27th Feb 08 to ensure we have the funds to cover the container booking.

I will run a balance sheet and issue to all on an ongoing basis and any funds remaining will be issued back to all once we have made it back on Australian soil.

Request to the Secretary - As part of the process all persons listed below need to complete a letter address to the Association Secretary requesting that they be accepted as part of the Australian Team to attend the Worlds in Spain.

Once completed email directly to Joanne ( aus.secretary@ausf18.org.au ) , and CC to the President. (aus.president@ausf18.org.au ). This letter will then be passed onto the Worlds organising body with our approval confirming your entries.

Can you all ensure this is completed no later than Wed 27th Feb 08 in conjunction with your deposits.
